It's been over a year since I posted a parody song here 😱
I checked my Works In Progress folder for the first time in a while – there are still some good songs cooking in there that I'll get to, eventually – but, for now, I have something more current.
Background
Kevin O'Leary – known best for appearing on Dragon's Den, Shark Tank, and as a conservative talking head on CBC – is a moron.
O'Leary ran for the leadership of the federal Conservatives in 2017. The man is a pox on what remains of Canada's political discourse.
At the beginning of Donald Trump's attempts to force Canada to become the 51st state, O'Leary flew down to meet Trump in Florida to help the Orange One further his goals of annexation.
As this idiot's name entered news headlines at the beginning of the year, I happened to be listening to The Moody Blues' Legend of a Mind. I made the genius connection between "Timothy Leary" and "Kevin O'Leary", and that's all I needed to start working on an old-fashioned roast parody.
I wrote this one pretty quickly, despite being busy. Like Kevin O'Leary, it's neither profound nor broadly appealing, but not every song needs to be a masterpiece. Sometimes, a good roast will do.
